Bruce Feldman joined Dukes & Bell to talk about his article on UGA defensive lineman Jalen Carter and why the rumored character issues about Carter are not accurate.
When asked about the rumored character issues about Carter.
“It was interesting because when I talked to Tray Scott the Georgia d-line coach, I talked to Jalen, I talked to some of the guys in the d-line room about it. The story that now has gotten a lot of traction from our story at the Athletic about what Jalen did,” Feldman said. “One of his teammates was a walk-on defensive lineman, use to be an offensive lineman, when Jalen found out he wasn’t getting to eat lunch for free just like the rest of the scholarship defensive lineman he was like I can fix that. He wanted to pay out of his own pocket so this other kid would be able to eat with everybody just like he was on scholarship.”
Feldman talked about how he actually found out about this story.
“What was amazing part of it was Tray Scott was like, I wouldn’t even have known about it if our nutritionist didn’t mention it and he was like I think that was the greatest part about it, this guy wasn’t like promoting it. I think it’s kinda cool that he spent three years at Georgia, was on a team that won another national title and this didn’t get out until our story, whatever it is middle of February right before he’s going to the combine. And he wasn’t the one who told me about it, it wasn’t Jalen saying hey by the way I did this. This Todd McShay character comment, that was like two months ago and nobody fired back with this and this was just something I ended up finding out in conversation.”
