Why Kirby Smart's culture has led to the Dawgs' dominance

Jon Chuckery and Jonathan Williams discuss the culture Kirby Smart has brought to the Georgia Bulldogs

While the Georgia Bulldogs have been well known and respected in the world of college football for years, the Kirby Smart era has not only ushered them into them into the forefront of the college football landscape, but with back to back national championship wins, the Dawgs find themselves in the midst of consistent “best in college football” conversation regularly.

“What do you think is the thing about Kirby Smart that has transformed this program into pretty good to the best program in America right now,” 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery asked Jonathan Williams of Dawgs Daily on Tuesday.

For Williams, one word, ‘culture’ simple sums up why Smart has been able to help the Georgia program take that jump into prominence in the world of college football and has many believing they could be poised to win a third consecutive championship. And while Williams states that the ability for the Dawgs to attract top-ranked recruits from across the country, who believe in the Bulldogs program, Georgia has ramped up in landing top rated instate players as well.

“They’re going to get people from all over the United States, but they also get guys from within the state of Georgia," Williams said. "Guys that have grown up loving Georgia, guys that love football.”

As the conversation continued, Williams added that the impact of the culture is also built into the coaching staff and that is another plus for the success for the Dawgs.

“I think he’s done the same thing with his coaching staff,” Williams said pointing to the likes of defensive coordinator, Glenn Schumann, defensive backs coach, Fran Brown and former offensive coordinator Todd Monken, along with Bryan McClendon, Mike Bobo and Will Muschamp, who “are all Georgia guys. Guys that have a long Georgia lineage of loving the Dawgs,” Williams added.
