It was a historically great defense that propelled the Georgia Bulldogs to their first national championship in over 40 years, but with just about every key contributor from that unit getting ready for the NFL Draft, the 2022 Dawgs could use a different formula in their bid for back-to-back titles.
No one mistook the 2021 Bulldog offense with the 2019 LSU Tigers or 2005 USC Trojans, but they were steady enough to get to job done while Jordan Davis and the defense locked opponents down.
While G-Day in Athens tomorrow may be less about the actual spring game and more about the surrounding festivities, UGASports.com's Radi Nabulsi told Andy & Randy on 92.9 The Game that fans will get their first look at an offensive collection that appears to be the strength of this year’s squad.
“There’s a lot this offense is going to do. I know everybody was kind of tugging their beards when this offense was on the field this past year, but this year will be when the offense sort of carries the defense. You’re going to have a lot more faith in Georgia’s offense this year than you did last year," he said.
Much of the focus during Saturday’s spring game will be on the quarterback position, what about the guys Stetson Bennett and company will be throwing to? Nabulsi highlighted wide receiver, in addition to TE Brock Bowers, as a position of great depth for the Dawgs despite the loss of George Pickens to the NFL and Jermaine Burton to the transfer portal—now at Alabama.
Alongside Adonai Mitchell, Ladd McConkey and Kearis Jackson, Nabulsi mentioned that he’s hearing good things about Dominick Blaylock—returning from two ACL tears. As for young guys that could contribute, Nabulsi offered up Jackson Meeks and De'Nylon Morrissette—a 4-star wideout in the 2022 recruiting class.
Stay tuned in to 92.9 The Game Saturday as we’ll be live from Athens Saturday!
