While the Georgia Bulldogs are a definite lock to be in the College Football Playoff this year no matter what happens between them and Alabama in the SEC Championship game on Saturday there is still a question of whether or not they need to win to get a first round bye in the Playoff, and The Morning Shift gave their take earlier today.

Mark Zinno definitively believes the Dawgs need win the SEC Championship to secure a first round bye. However, Mike Johnson isn’t so sure the Dawgs

“They’re not a lock for a bye, but I would say it’s more likely than not that they get a bye” Mike said

If Georgia does lose to Alabama in the SEC Championship game what happens in the Big 10 and Big 12 Championship games would definitely play a factor into whether or not they would get a bye, but strong cases could be made for Georgia getting a bye and not getting a bye if they were to lose to the Crimson Tide on Saturday.
