On Wednesday, the Atlanta Hawks hosted the Boston Celtics, arguably the best team they have faced so far this season, and by the end of the night, the Hawks were handed their sixth loss of the season as the Celtics picked up the 126-101 win, dropping Atlanta to 9-6 on the season. The contest was one in which Atlanta had one of their worst shooting nights as they were 41.6 percent (42-101) from the field and just 21.9 percent (7-32) on three point baskets.
While four Hawks players were in double digits in Wednesday’s loss with Trae Young finishing with a team high of 27 points and Dejounte Murray contributing 19 points, Atlanta’s bench was outscored by the Celtics 44-23, which was one of the most significant differences on the night and ultimately the end results led Jon Chuckery to believe that “it was a poor effort” by Atlanta. With the game being broadcasted on ESPN, Chuckery believes that the Hawks failed to take advantage of an opportunity to show the nation why they are deserving of more national conversations as being one of the NBA’s elite teams.
