Having won 12 of their last 13 games and becoming the first team in the National League and the second in MLB to reach 50 wins, the Atlanta Braves continue to make their claim to be the best team in baseball to this point in the season. And while the Braves have had their share of struggles on the mound, offensively, they have been one of the league’s best performing teams, with the second most hits at 724 and third in runs produced with 432.
“It’s the depth of this lineup. I mean it doesn’t feel like that there are easy outs in the middle of this lineup, 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery stated in a conversation with Audacy, MLB Insider and former MLB All-Star, Bret Boone. I mean everybody’s kind of contributing in some form or fashion, even some of the guys that maybe aren’t having their best seasons. It seems like everybody is doing something to help this lineup win a game every night,” Chuckery added.
In response, Boone noted that opposing pitchers more than likely do not look forward to facing the Atlanta lineup. “There’s no rest period for that opposing pitcher each given night. There’s no down time or ‘oh I can get through the bottom half, take a little breather with the seven, eight, nine hitters’, no not on this Braves’ team,” Boone said of Atlanta, who can have a mental effect on pitchers that face them. “When it comes to the Braves, there’s nowhere to hide,” Boone added.
