A large sporting event is underway in Los Angeles, and it’s not the World Cup.
There’s a big cornhole tournament at L.A. Center Studios with more than 100 competitors. That’s the game where people toss bean bags at slanted boards. If the bag reaches a hole at the end of the plank, they score.
KNX News’ Craig Fiegener reported the fundraising event started a decade ago as a massive golf tournament. Steve Brockmeyer, one of the organizers, said the tournament will raise hundreds of thousands of dollars.
“It's just a really fun day of getting together, a lot of people in the industry,” he said. “Clients and insurance companies have food and drink and sit here and toss some bags.”
The tournament is expected to raise $250,000, which will help fund financial literacy programs.
