He started practice in a gray no-contact jersey but changed into a regular full-contact jersey before the end of practice.
After practiced it was announced that the Pens captain will not make the trip to Montreal for Saturday's game against the Canadiens but could make the trip for the team's upcoming western swing.
Crosby has been out since out since the middle of November when he re-aggravated a sports hernia injury he had been dealing with since training camp.
He had successful surgery and has been recovering since.
