PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – Coming off a healthy rookie season where he played over 800 snaps, Steelers linebacker Devin Bush is ready for a second year against the Ravens, Browns and Bengals.

“I like what they did,” Bush said of their off-season moves.  “The AFC North has a lot of new players.  I think there are five or six Heisman winners in the division.  It’s a lot of good players.“

“Playing teams twice a year, those are going to be some good games.”

Bush had 11 solo tackles in his final game against the Ravens last year and had his first career interception against Baltimore.  Bush had three tackles for loss in his first game against Cincinnati and 13 tackles including two for loss against the Browns.

The rookie out of Michigan did have help that isn’t there this year, veteran Mark Barron was released after the first year of his two-year contract.  While he says he learned from Barron, he has no doubt he will be good with Vince Williams as his main sidekick.

Bush says he’s ready to play every snap this year, if needed, but that’s depends on the progression of a sixth round pick from Akron a couple of years ago.

“It’s up to Ulysees (Gilbert),” Bush said.  “I think he’s a really good player.  I think he’s really talented.  I think he has all of the tangibles, all of the athleticism to get out there and play.  It’s up to him to put it all together.”

Bush said it’s hard to really know without OTAs and the work that is done there.  The Florida native says he’s trying to stay active, stay in the playbook and the film room.

He gets up between 9 and 10am daily, works out and then every other day has virtual meetings with his teammates.  His NFL veteran father and brother are with him as they will hang out and sometimes hit a field together.
