PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed quarterback J.T. Barrett to their practice squad.
The former Ohio State quarterback was signed to the Steelers’ practice roster on Tuesday.
Safety Tray Matthews was also signed to the practice squad.
J.T. Barrett spent four years as a Buckeye from 2014- 2017, and he helped the program win a National Championship in 2014.
Barrett went undrafted in 2018 but was originally signed by the Saints as an undrafted free agent, and he has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks.
This could be a move to bolster the quarterback room in case of a playoff run and any other unforeseen quarterback injuries.
