(670 The Score) The Bears have elevated quarterback Nathan Peterman from the practice squad to their active roster, they announced Saturday.

Peterman’s elevation is a sign that starting quarterback Justin Fields will likely miss Chicago's game at the New York Jets on Sunday as he deals with a left shoulder injury. On Friday, the Bears listed Fields as questionable to play, and he hadn't been medically cleared as of Saturday afternoon, Dan Wiederer of the Tribune reported. Trevor Siemian will start at quarterback for the Bears if Fields can’t play, and Peterman is in line to back him up.
Peterman hasn’t thrown a pass in a regular-season game since 2020, when he was with the Raiders. He has appeared in 10 games in his NFL career and struggled mightily, throwing three touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
The Bears (3-8) and Jets (6-4) kick off at noon CT on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
