Former Steeler WR Johnson didn't know he was having dinner with his new coach

Former Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson was traded to the Carolina Panther this offseason.

He seems to be excited about his new team, but admitted on Thursday that he didn’t know who his coach was.

Johnson said he went out to dinner with new Head Coach Dave Canales after the trade from Pittsburgh.

The only problem, he didn’t know Canales was the coach.

"To be honest, at first I didn't know he was the head coach,” said Johnson during his first new conference with the Panthers. “I went out to dinner with him and he was just talking and there's this energy he brings. And after the dinner...somebody told me he was the head coach and I was like 'Oh!' I was so surprised. But other than that, I love his energy, and I'm excited to play for him."

It’s hard to blame Johnson. When you join a new team, you’re being pulled in so many directions it’s hard to know who you’re dealing with.

Just kidding, he should’ve known who the coach was... at least the head coach.
