The Wilmington Area High School Football team and School District in Lawrence County are in mourning after the death of one of their football players.
17-year-old Dylan Emery was killed in a car accident late on July 3. A total of four people were involved in the accident (three current and one former Wilmington students).
The three survivors are reportedly being treated for injuries and are expected to recover. Two of them were seniors on this year's team.
The accident happened shortly after 10:20 p.m. after a Chevrolet Equinox went off the road at a curb, hit a tree and overturned on Brent Road, in Springfield Township.
The football team's Facebook page says that Emery was, "excited to play on this year's football team."
A GoFundMe has been created to help the family with funeral and other expenses.
"He was unconditionally loved by his family and friends and will be missed to no end. This tragedy on the night of July 3, 2021 changed his family's lives forever," a message on the GoFundMe reads.
Services for Emery's death were held on Tuesday evening.
