Penguins announce limited-edition WubbaNubs to bring comfort this season

Penguins WubbaNubs

Do you have a tiny Pens fan in your family?

Just in time for the holidays, the Penguins have a special opportunity for their youngest fans.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced a limited-edition WubbaNubs to bring families and little Penguins fans comfort during this different holiday season.

According to the CDC, about 40,000 babies are born each year with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), and about 25% of them have critical symptoms.

Last year, Penguins forward Jake Guentzel began the “Heart of Gold” program which invited children with CHD and other heart conditions to games and opportunities to meet the young star forward.

As a way to give back through the postponed hockey season, Guentzel and the Penguins Foundation have joined with WubbaNub to create an exclusive Pittsburgh Penguins WubbaNubs as a way to connect with their tiniest fans.

Guentzel kicked off the initiative with a $5,000 contribution to UPMC Children’s Hospital and donated 100 of the Penguins WubbaNubs to patients.

“We hope this will bring all the little heart warriors and their families some soothing comfort and joy when they need it most,” says Founder & CEO of WubbaNub, Carla Schneider.

A limited amount of the WubbaNubs are available for purchase at the Penguins Foundation online shop.

Each Penguins WubbaNub cost $20 and all proceeds will be going toward the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
