Pirates bust Brewers' franchise record in 6-1 victory

JT Brubaker

PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) The Milwaukee Brewers entered Friday night's game with a 7-5 record and had set their franchise's record for longest streak of starting pitchers making it 5+ innings and giving up one or fewer runs.

The Pittsburgh Pirates had other plans for that streak by putting up four runs by the end of the fifth inning.

Starting with a solo homer run in the second inning by Colin Moran, the Pirates blew the game open in the fifth inning when Adam Frazier hit a two-run triple immidietly followed by a Bryan Reynolds double.

The Pirates were looking good at the dish with a 4-0 lead and pitcher JT Brubaker was standing tall.

In his third start of the season, Brubaker went six innings giving up one run on four hits and eight strikeouts; He improved his 2021 record to 2-0 and has a 1.76 ERA.

The Pirates weren't done when Brubaker was, either.

Gregory Polanco sealed the game in the top of the eighth inning with a huge 2-run blast to reach the final score of 6-1.

The Pirates now sit at 6-8 on the year and will square off against the Brewers two more times in their first meetings this season.
