Jaland Lowe enters transfer portal
Pitt guard could still return, but exploring his options
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – If you think about one player Pitt could ill afford to lose for next year's basketball season, it's sophomore Jaland Lowe. The All-ACC guard will enter the transfer portal, but hasn't ruled out the potential to return.
Lowe was Pitt's leading scorer and the 10th leading scorer in the ACC in 2024-25 at 16.8 per game, fifth in the league in assists at 5.45 and fourth in steals at 1.77.
As first reported by George Michalowski of the Portal Report, Lowe is not averse to return to Pitt, keeping his options open while looking at what is out there. The question is in today's college basketball, what is the going rate for a point guard with his stats? Would Pitt be willing or able to match or exceed that number?
Before committing to Pitt, Lowe also took official visits to Memphis and SMU with offers from Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Wichita State and others. He's the sixth highest rated recruit to ever commit to Pitt, with the understanding these ratings only go back a couple of decades.
Four Panthers players had previously entered the portal-Jorge and Guillermo Diaz-Graham, Amsal Delalic and Marlon Barnes.
