Pitt lands 2 players preseason 1st Team All-American
Plus, a look at those expected to excel in the ACC
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A couple of Panthers are pre-season All-Americans for the coming football season.
Linebacker Kyle Louis and Desmond Reid, who is listed as an all-purpose player, are Phil Steele's First-Team preseason All-Americans.
Louis last year was Second Team AP All-American and First Team by the Sporting News. The redshirt junior led the team in tackles for loss (15.5), sacks (seven) and four interceptions (including a 59-yarder against Syracuse) and that doesn't include an interception of a two-point attempt against Boston College. He also blocked an extra point in the bowl game and returned it for a two-point conversion.
In his first season with the Panthers after transferring from Western Carolina, Reid was selected Second Team All-American by the Associated Press, CBS Sports, ESPN, FWAA and Phil Steele as an all-purpose player. Reid ran for 962 yards in 11 games last year averaging 5.3 yards per carry. He had 52 receptions for 579 yards and four touchdowns. The 5'8" Reid had a 78-yard punt return TD against Kent State and totaled 10 touchdowns. He also became the only Pitt player to rush and receive for 100 yards in a game against Cincinnati in a historic comeback.
