PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – With Eli Holstein just in his second season of eligibility, Pitt redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Dugger has decided to transfer. The Penn Hills HS graduate went to social media.
"After long & careful consideration I have entered the transfer portal w/ four years of eligibility remaining," Dugger said on X. "This was an extremely difficult decision to make, but is best for my future & development as a QB. Thank you Pitt, Coach Narduzzi, staff, & all my teammates."
Dugger didn't get any run last year, until the bowl game. With Nate Yarnell transferring and Holstein hurt, Dugger got his shot in Detroit in the GameAboveSports Bowl. David Lynch started, but when Dugger got his opportunity, he didn't let it go.
The Penn Hills star threw a pair of touchdowns going 7-13 for 72 yards and rushed for 88 yards (115 before the sacks) and another TD in a six-overtime loss to Toledo. That game has given him a confidence that he has carried with him.
Narduzzi said how excited he was to have him in the mix and they were going to have plays for him, however he has decided to go elsewhere.
