PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It came in the biggest game of the season against the team he won his first championship against, Sidney Crosby moves into a tie for 10th place (1,590) in the NHL's all-time points list on a goal to give the Pens a 3-2 lead in the second period against Detroit Thursday night.

Crosby has stepped up for his team leading them in goals, assists and points this season and in the last nine games, Crosby has 17 points and is one of the NHL's three stars of this week.


The 36-year-old also tied Wayne Gretzky for an NHL record 19th consecutive season of averaging at least a point a game. He was named on Thursday the team MVP for a 12th time, tying him with Mario Lemieux in Pens history.

Crosby's first point came in his first game on October 5, 2005 against the New Jersey Devils. He had the primary assist on a Mark Recchi power play goal. He would play 81 games that season and finish with 102 points, one of six times he would reach triple-digits, twice leading the NHL. Crosby twice led an NHL post-season in assists. He has 130 in his playoff career.
