PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It’s as if following the disappointing loss to Minnesota and riding a six-game winning streak Sidney Crosby put the Pens on his back. Monday he was named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week.

Crosby finished with four goals and three assists in three games. The Pens captain had multiple points in all three games and had multiple goals in each of the last two, both wins. Crosby is four goals from 600.

Alexander Ovechkin was the number one Star of the Week with five goals. Crosby and the Pens play at Ovechkin and the Capitals on Friday. The two future Hall of Famers each have 21 points on the season.
