PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Now only Mario Lemieux has been selected to more NHL All-Star Games than Sidney Crosby. The Pens captain picked for his ninth on Thursday.
To fill out the rosters the league selects one representative from all 32 teams and then a dozen more (two skaters and one goalie per division) will be decided by fan voting starting at 9p on Thursday at NHL.com/Vote.
The 35-year-old leads the team with 19 goals, 24 assists and 43 points through 37 games. He is third in the NHL in even strength points with 33 behind only Erik Karlsson and Connor McDavid. This year he's moved up to 18th on the all-time NHL scoring list and is currently five points behind Teemu Selanne and Alex Ovechkin for 16th place with Stan Mikita only 15 points clear for 15th place.
All-Star Weekend is February 3 and 4 in Sunrise, Florida.
