CRANBERRY TWP, PA (93.7 The Fan) – The first Pens player to sign elsewhere as free agency opened at noon on Saturday, forward Ryan Poehling. He not only signed elsewhere, but the forward signed with the Flyers for one-year, $1.4 million.
The Pens decided not to tender the 6’2”, 196-pound Poehling, a restricted free agent, after only one season with the team after he was acquired with Jeff Petry from Montreal last offseason. The bottom six forward battled through injuries and ended up playing 53 games with the Pens with seven goals and seven assists with eight penalty minutes and a minus two. He has some speed and can kill penalties for the Flyers.
