PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) After a thrilling Game 1 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers, the Pittsburgh Penguins may be down yet another goalie.
Starter Tristan Jarry was already down with a broken foot and backup Casey DeSmith suffered an undisclosed injury in the middle of the second overtime.
Third string Louis Domingue stepped in and closed out the game in the three overtime victory.
While head coach Mike Sullivan has stated that DeSmith is still being evaluated, the Penguins announced that they have recalled Alex D’Orio from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.
D’Orio is 23-years-old and has never played in an NHL game; this season he split his time between Wheeling and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Sullivan has stated that DeSmith is still being evaluated for his injury and is considered day-to-day.
