PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Simple math tonight, beat the Devils on the road and the Pens return to the postseason for the first time in four years.

“You are aware of it, it’s hard not to be,” said Pens forward Justin Brazeau. “I don’t think as a group we care too much about the magic numbers.”

“We want to make sure we are doing the right things to finish out the year because you can’t just turn it on when it comes playoff time. So you can’t take four games off here. You just got to keep doing what you are doing.”

There are two other scenarios for the Pens to get in

  • Buffalo beats Columbus Thursday night
  • Toronto beats the Islanders Thursday and the Sabres beat Columbus in regulation

“We know that another two points will clinch it,” said defenseman Ryan Shea. “We are going into a building that’s tough to play in, they obviously have high-end skill, but if we play like we’ve been playing, our work ethic will overcome their skill.”
