PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Another prospect called up to the Pirates for the first time. Left-handed pitcher Cam Alldred comes up from Indianapolis likely as a long reliever.
The 25-year-old has had a hot start to the AAA season. Alldred is 1-1 with a 1.53 ERA pitching 17.2 innings, 12 hits, three runs, three walks and 15 strikeouts. All three of those runs were allowed in one appearance, back on April 16. In 12 total games at AAA, he has a 1.19 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Since returning from the cancelled 2020 minor-league season, the Ohio native is 9-1 with 35 earned runs allowed in 149.2 innings.
Alldred was the Pirates 24th round pick in 2018 from the University of Cincinnati where he started 18 of the 38 games he appeared in. With the Bearcats, he went 7-5 with a 4.55 ERA with 108 strikeouts and 53 walks in 112.2 innings. Overall in the minors, 9-4, six saves, 2.75 ERA with one start in 100 games, 173.2 innings, 13 home runs, 2.75 ERA, 67 walks to 169 strikeouts with a 1.16 WHIP.
