PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) The Pittsburgh Pirates are set for a Saturday double-header against the New York Mets before heading into the MLB All-Star break.
Pirates' pitcher Max Kranick is slated to pitch in the second half of that double-header and is aiming to continue his dominance on the mound.
It's strange to say a player about to appear in his second career game is "dominating," but Kranick was pitching a perfect game before a rain delay cut his first ever big league game short.
Not a no-hitter. A perfect game.
A few weeks away from turning 24, the Scranton PA native currently has a perfect MLB stat line.
1 game, 1 win, 5.0 innings pitched, 0.00 ERA, 3 strikeouts, 0 walks, 0 hits allowed.
15 up, 15 down.
Kranick was pretty quickly sent back to AAA Indianapolis after his MLB debut, but he is back with the Pirates and if he continues to pitch perfectly he has a chance of staying.
First pitch for the opening game of Saturday's double header is scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
