PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Already with Konnor Griffin dealing with a sore forearm, Pirates third baseman Nick Gonzales left Thursday’s game after the second inning precaution due to left knee discomfort, which stemmed from a foul ball on Wednesday.
He is currently being treated by the club’s medical staff. His status is day to day.
Gonzales is the Pirates leading hitter, at least in terms of batting average. While struggling recently, Gonzales is still hitting .296, which is 17th in the majors. The right-handed hitter has started most of the games at third base this year.
Called up for the first time by the Pirates, Nick Callihan took over at third base.
