Paul Skenes K's another seven gives up first earned run

Pirates top prospect Paul Skenes continued his domination on Wednesday in Triple-A Indianapolis.

The #1 overall draft pick last year pitched 4.1 innings Wednesday afternoon, his longest outing of the season. That brings his season total 17 innings.

He also struck out another seven batters, bringing that season total to 34. He walked one.

He did give up two runs (one earned). That the first of the season.

That brings his ERA to 0.53.

It was another great start for Skenes, against Omaha, topping out over 100 mph again.

Pirates fans hope to see Skenes in Pittsburgh soon.

His 71 pitches were the most his thrown all season and he completed the fourth inning for the first time in 2024.

The Pirates don't want to rush Skenes to the MLB, even though he may look ready.

He has pitched only 23.2 innings in the minors, but he's looked so good, the Pirates may need to bring him up sooner than later.
