Pirates add several coaches, Mike Rabelo's role expands
The Pirates have announced several coaching changes, including the addition of former Pittsburgh manager Gene Lamont.
Lamont is going to serve as "a special advisor" to manager Don Kelly.
He was the Pirates manager from 1997-2000 and was also a coach under Jim Leyland from 1986-1991.
Lamont was also a coach under Leyland in Detroit from 2006-2013 and was with the organization through 2017.
Triple-A Indianapolis manager Chris Truby will coach the Pirates' infield. In addition to managing the Indians, Truby has also been the Pirates' minor league infield coordinator for the past four years.
Third base coach Mike Rabelo has been named the team's bench coach and will also continue to coach at third.
The organizations' assistant director, coaching an player development/ minor league field coordinator has been named the new manager for Indianapolis.
