The 28-year-old pitcher is set to make his MLB debut. He’s sporting a 3-0 record with a 2.28 ERA in 27.2 innings pitched in 18 appearance for the Indians.
He was a sixth-round selection by the Pirates in 2016’s First-Year Player Draft out of Michigan State.
Smith-Njigba made his MLB debut on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals, doubling in his first at-bat. He was the first Pirates player to record an extra-base hit in his first plate appearance since catcher Tony Sanchez in 2013.
