
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pirates released former number one pick, first baseman Will Craig to claim right-handed pitcher Ashton Goudeau after he was let go by the Rockies.
The 28-year-old Goudeau pitched in four games for Colorado last year going 8.1 innings, 15 hits, 7 runs, 3 home runs, a pair of walks and strikeouts. The 6’6”, 210 pounder was drafted in the 27th round in 2012 by Kansas City.
A majority of his work has come in AA starting 49 of 66 games, 15-28 with a 4.25 ERA with 237 strikeouts. Goudeau has pitched in 20 games in AAA with an 8.20 ERA and 2.089 WHIP.
Craig was the Bucs first round pick in 2016 out of Wake Forest and has only four major league plate appearances without a hit. The right-handed hitter never found his college success hitting .248 in AA and .249 at AAA. Craig hit 23 homers in 131 games in his career at Indianapolis.
