According to reports, there’s still some hope for a deal between the Pirates and Bryan Reynolds.
According to Post-Gazette Pirates insider Jason Mackey, and others, the reason a deal has yet to be made is because of an opt-out clause.
Mackey, along with The Athletic’s Rob Biertempfel say that Reynolds wants an option out option.
The good news is that, according to reports, both sides are still talking and trying to get a deal done.
Another bit of good news is the money has been agreed to.
Mackey says it would be around $106 million for eight years.]
Reynolds has said he wants to play in Pittsburgh the rest of his career.
It was revealed during the offseason that Reynolds wanted a trade, but speaking to the media during Spring Training, including KDKA-TV’s Richie Walsh, who told the PM Team, the All-Star just wanted a fair contract.
“He wants a contract, he wants a fair deal. He wants to stay here, him and his wife love Pittsburgh, he wants to spend the rest of his career there.”
According to Heyman, the Pirates offered Reynolds a six-year, $75 million contract in January, with Reynolds originally wanting over $160 million.
