Pirates manager Derek Shelton confirms that he expects third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes in the lineup when the Pirates take the field at PNC Park against the Miami Marlins.

Speaking during the Derek Shelton Show on 93.7 The Fan, the Bucs skipper told Cook and Joe they are excited to get Hayes back in the lineup.

“I would say that expectation is very true, we expect to activate “Ke” tomorrow and we’re excited about it,’ said Shelton.

Hayes played only one full game so far this season, Opening Day against the Chicago Cubs. A game in which he homered.

The next day he injured his wrist and was placed on the 10-day injured list.

A setback forced him onto the 60-day IL

“Here’s a guy that was an integral part of what we thought we were going to do this year and he’s played in one game . . . and it’s going to be fun to get him back because he’s an exciting player on both sides of the ball,” said Shelton.

Shelton adds that Hayes will help “stabilize” both the offense and defense but that the most important thing is that he is healthy.

“Watching him go through his rehab in Indy and then he was with us for two days in Kansas City for the Major League staff to get eyes on him, he looks good, he looks healthy.”

The 24- year-old started his rehab May 22 with AAA Indianapolis, hitting .300 in 20 at bats with a pair of doubles, pair of home runs and 4 RBI.
