Should players have to face the media after making big mistakes during games?
That’s the question that is lighting up Twitter Wednesday morning after Ke’Bryan Hayes hit a home run for the Pirates in Tuesday’s 5-3 losing effort to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but was called out because he didn’t touch first base.
After the game, he was not available. Something that the Tribune Review’s Kevin Gorman noticed as somewhat of a trend.
Crowe, who has since been DFA’ed by the Bucs, did talk to the media the next day and owned up to his mistake, taking full blame for the bizarre play.
Hayes is scheduled to speak to the media at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Several people took exception to the take, claiming that Hayes is young and that people should go easy on him.
Others said that Hayes talking wouldn’t add anything to the narrative.
While they may have a point, if Hayes hit a three-run bomb to win the game, he would likely have been on the post-game Zooms, so shouldn’t they have to face the music when they screw up?
