PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - During Wednesday's 10-3 loss to the White Sox, the Pirates announced the acquisition of Phillies left-handed pitcher Austin Davis. Philadelphia had designated Davis, 27, for assignment last Friday. The Phillies will receive a player to be named and cash considerations.
Since making his major league debut in 2018, Davis has appeared in 50 games, going 1-2 with a 5.86 ERA. He allowed seven earned runs in three innings this season.
Earlier this week, the Pirates claimed righthander Carson Fulmer off waivers from the Tigers. As of Wednesday afternoon he had not been added to the Pirates 28-man roster.
The Pirates will play a makeup doubleheader in St. Lous on Thursday with Chad Kuhl and Cody Ponce scheduled to start the games.
