According to the man himself, the Pirates are not interested in pitcher Trevor Bauer.

The 33-year-old is looking to return to baseball after he was suspended by the MLB for 324 after he was accused of domestic abuse and sexual assault by a woman in 2021.

That suspension was reduced late in 2022, allowing him to try to find a team to sign him.

With no teams interested, he pitched the 2023 season in Japan.

If he does return to, it doesn’t look like it will be in Pittsburgh.

Asked on X (formally Twitter) if he has had any contact with the Pirates, Bauer replied, “From what I was told, my agents spoke to them and were told no. That was before they signed Chapman though so maybe something has changed? I don’t know.”

Bauer brings up recently signed reliever Aroldis Chapman because he was suspended for 30 games for an alleged domestic incident.

Money isn’t an issue. On a recent podcast with comedian Theo Von, Bauer said he would play for league minimum and earn his money through incentives.

The controversy surrounding Bauer has been too much for any team to try to take a chance on him, but would a dirt-cheap price be enough to lure one of the 30 MLB teams?

Bauer has a lifetime ERA of 3.79 over 10 seasons and won the Cy Young award in the shortened 2020 season with Cincinnati.
