PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) More names with connections to the Pittsburgh Steelers could soon be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Art Rooney Jr. and coach Buddy Parker have been named finalists for the 2023 class as part of the Coach/Contributor category.

Of the 12 names on the finalist list, only one will be chosen by the Hall of Fame committee with a meeting set for August 23.

Rooney Jr. has been working with the Steelers since 1961 and worked as the Personnel Director from 1965 to 1986.

During that time Rooney Jr. worked with coach Chuck Noll to bring in a multitude of players that would go on to have Hall of Fame careers and was a part of four Super Bowl championships.

Rooney Jr. was inducted into the Steelers Hall of Honor in 2018.

Parker coached the Steelers from 1957 to 1964 and picked up a 51-47-6 record.

Those eight seasons were the majority of Parker's 15 year career that also saw him coach the Chicago Cardinals and Detroit Lions.

From 1949 to 1964, Parker reached a career record of 107-76-9 and a pair of NFL championships in 1952 and 1953 with the Lions.
