PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Clairton's Lamont Wade is among eight free agents the Steelers signed after the draft on Saturday.
Wade played in 47 career games, starting 22 for the Nittany Lions. Named All-Big 10 second team after 37 tackles, two fumble recoveries, two passes defended and an interception in 2020. Wade returned a kickoff for a 100 yard touchdown against Illinois.
Steelers also signed safety Donovan Stiner, corners Shakur Brown and Mark Gilbert. Linebackers Calvin Bundage and Jamar Watson and receiver Isaiah McKoy.
Stiner, 6'2"210 pounds, is the other safety, playing 48 games with the Gators with 150 tackles and three picks in his career.
Leading Division 1 in interceptions per game (5 in 7 games), Brown, 5'11", 190 pounds, played in 26 games at Michigan State with 54 tackles, a pair of sacks, 16 passes defended and one touchdown. The corner was in many mock drafts as a fourth round pick.
Gilbert is not from Pittsburgh, but his uncle, Sean Gilbert and cousin Darrelle Revis were stars at Pitt. Gilbert, 6', 175 pounds, played in 29 games at Duke with 65 tackles, five FTL, seven interceptions and 17 pass breakups.
Bundage led Oklahoma State in sacks with seven and six quarterback hurries. The 6'1", 220 pound linebacker was honorable mention All-Big 12 finishing with 148 career tackles, 11.5 sacks and 23 tackles for loss.
Kentucky edge linebacker Watson, 6'3", 202 pounds, played in 49 college games with 107 career tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks with five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception.
McKoy is from Kent State, playing only 4 games last season but had 25 receptions for 455 yards and 5 touchdowns. His junior year, McKoy, the 6'3", 182 pound Brooklyn native, had 56 catches for 872 yards and 8 touchdowns.
