Disrespect toward the Terrible Towel?
That’s what many people on social media assumed when they heard Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence called it a “little yellow” towel.
Even former Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher took exception to Lawrence’s comments.
“Little gold towel? Come on Trevor, it’s called a Terrible Towel,” Cowher said on The Pat McAfee Show.
But in reality, there was no disrespect.
“Are you too young to know what a Terrible Towel is?” a reporter asked Lawrence earlier this week ahead of their trip to Pittsburgh Sunday.
“Yeah, I know what they are, the little yellow towels they swing around,” responded Lawrence.
How would you describe the Terrible Towel? It’s a little yellow towel.
Lawrence went on to talk about how excited he is to play in Pittsburgh and talked about the heritage of the Steelers and how special the organization is in the NFL.
Doesn’t sound like disrespect. And don’t get me wrong, I am not a Jaguars fan.
Maybe the curse of the Terrible Towel will still hit Lawrence, even if he didn’t mean any disrespect.
