In a season filled with injuries, the Steelers received some encouraging news Wednesday as three starters were back at practice.
Linebacker Vince Williams was activated off the Reserve/COVID list and worked with the first team defense. On offense, RB James Conner and LG Kevin Dotson also returned; Conner from a quad injury, Dotson a shoulder.
In addition, FB/special teamer Derek Watt who was hurt early in Cincinnati and was examined for a concussion while went full.
Tight end Eric Ebron were also on the field with their teammates but did not practice after suffering a back injury against the Bengals.
As is the Wednesday custom, Ben Roethlisberger, Maurkice Pouncey and David DeCastro were given the day off. Alejandro Villaneuva, who often skips Wednesdays, did practice.
Other players who were out were linebacker Marcus Allen with a “stinger”, linebacker Ulysees Gilbert III with an ankle, defensive end Stephon Tuitt with a back injury and linebacker Olasunkanmi Adeniyi with a shoulder.
The Steelers will try once again to clinch the AFC North when they host Indianapolis Sunday at 1:00.
