LATROBE, PA (93.7 The Fan) – A couple of incumbents battling to keep their starting jobs remain starters as the Steelers released their first depth chart.
Dan Moore, Junior, who has made 33 career starts, is listed as the first-team left tackle with first-round pick Broderick Jones the only other left tackle listed. Kevin Dotson is the backup left guard with Kendrick Green the second-team center and Nate Herbig behind James Daniels at right guard. No surprises with the offense with Miles Boykin then Cody White after Diontae Johnson at one receiver. Second-year Calvin Austin behind Allen Robinson in the slot with Gunner Olszewski third. Inconsistent Hakeem Butler behind George Pickens then Ja'Marcus Bradley and Dez Fitpatrick.
Connor Heyward is listed as the only fullback and also as a tight end. Zach Gentry is the second team tight end followed by Connor Heyward and Darnell Washington.
Montravius Adams the starting nose tackle in the first depth chart. The 28-year-old Adams has started 13 out of 22 games he's been with the Steelers. Free agent add Breiden Fehoko is listed as the back-up with rookie Keeanu Benton on the third team. Isaiahh Loudermilk and DeMarvin Leal are the top backups at defensive end. Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts are the starting middle linebackers with Kwon Alexander and Mark Robinson on the second team. Rookie Nick Herbig and Markus Golden are the backup outside linebackers with David Perales and Quincy Roche third team.
Damontae Kazee and Keanu Neal are both nursing injuries and are listed as either/or as starter at strong safety with Miles Killebrew on the third team. Tre Norwood backs up Minkah Fitzpatrick at free safety with Kenny Robinson third team.
The starting corners are Levi Wallace and Patrick Peterson. Second-round pick Joey Porter, Junior is the back-up on the left side. James Pierre is the back-up on the right side and Chandon Sullivan is listed as the starter in the slot. Elijah Riley behind Sullivan.
Austin is the starter as the kick and punt returner over Olszewski with Pressley Harvin the starting punter.
There are still two more preseason games after Friday and over a month from the start of the season.
