A Steelers great is taking a shot at the likely starting quarterback of the future.
Posting the now-famous “and why is that” meme, created after ESPN’s Brian Windhorst went on a two-minute rant on the Utah Jazz.
The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly tweeted the photo, writing, “Why did Kenny Pickett take nothing by third-team snaps at OTAs?”
Two-time Super Bowl champion linebacker James Farrior chimed in with his thoughts and he’s not excited for a Pickett-led Steelers franchise.
“He’s third team QB!” said Farrior, responding to Kaboly.
Mike Tomlin kept Mitch Trubisky on first team, with Mason Rudolph running second team and Pickett on third during OTAs and minicamp.
But Tomlin has said to not read too much in to OTA and minicamp when it comes to what will happen at Training Camp later this month.
Many found it surprising the Pickett ran third team the whole time since he was taken in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Steelers at pick #20.
Pickett was a Heisman Trophy finalist and helped lead Pitt to its first ACC Championship in history, but Farrior apparently doesn’t’ think that’s good enough.
Farrior was with the Steelers from 2002-2011 and was a First-Team All-Pro in 2004, is a two-time Pro Bowler and was inducted in the Steelers Hall of Honor in 2020.
