PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – There were a couple of injuries that were ongoing, now after one of his better games as a pro, quarterback Kenny Pickett is dealing with an injury.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said during his weekly news conference on Tuesday that Pickett is experiencing some ankle discomfort that might limit him early in the week. The second-year QB threw for a season-high 278 yards in his first game with Eddie Faulkner as the offensive coordinator and QB coach Mike Sullivan calling plays.
There has been optimism a few times about the return of safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and he hasn't even practice as he tries to come back from a hamstring injury against Jacksonville. Tomlin is cautiously optimistic he will return this week, with one step forward, that Fitzpatrick will practice in some capacity on Wednesday. Same for defensive lineman Montravius Adams, who was limited in practice last week as he's been dealing with an ankle injury the last couple of weeks.
Second-year receiver Calvin Austin suffered an ankle injury during the game in Cleveland. Tomlin said he is 'significantly better' 48-hours after it happened, but likely will be limited in some way at least early in the week.
