No reunion for Bud Dupree and the Steelers.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the former Steelers and Titans linebacker is signing a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
Dupree confirmed that week that he was in Pittsburgh, likely for a visit with the Steelers.
He was recently released by the Tennessee Titans, spent his first six seasons with the Steelers.
He signed a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Titans in 2021 and in two seasons has seven sacks, two fumble recoveries for two yards, two forced fumbles and 35 tackles in 22 games. He started in 17 of them.
The former Steeler was set to make $17 million this upcoming season.
Dupree’s time in Tennessee has been marred by injuries.
He missed six games in 2021 while recovering from the ACL injury he suffered while still with the Steelers in 2020.
This past season, Dupree dealt with separate hip injuries, playing in 11 of 17 games.
Dupree was placed on injured reserve in December by the Titans.
Taken in the first-round by the Steelers with the 22nd overall pick back in 2015, Dupree struggled during his first four seasons in Pittsburgh, but played well in 2019 and 2020, before his injury.
He had 11.5 sacks and 17 quarterback hits in 2019 and eight sacks and 15 quarterback hits before his injury in 2020.
