According to a report free agent JuJu Smith-Schuster is in talks with the New York Jets.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says both side are “having conversations.”

Rapoport goes on to add that even though they just signed Corey Davis, they “may not be done adding playmakers.”

But fellow NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo says “the Steelers haven’t closed the door on a return and have remained engaged in the situation the last few days.?

Davis signed a three-year $37.5 million deal with New York and they still have around $50 million in cap space.

The wide receiver market hasn’t been as robust as it was previously though before the start of NFL free agency.

Signing with the Jets would reunite Smith-Schuster with his college quarterback Sam Darnold.

Smith-Schuster caught 97 balls last season for 831 yards and nine touchdowns, a career high.

JuJu has said countless times his preference would be to stay in Pittsburgh but he knows the Steelers don’t have the money to resign him being so close to the salary cap, so maybe he signs a one-year deal?

While the Steelers may want to keep him, it doesn’t make sense financially and with Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, James Washington and a possible draft pick, the Steelers are not in trouble at wide receiver, they just need the guys they have to catch the ball.
