PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The Steelers sign an extension with a defensive starter, not TJ Watt. Safety DeShon Elliott agrees to a two-year deal worth $12.5 million according to NFL.com's Tom Pelissero.
The 28-year-old is beginning his second season with the Steelers after playing three years with the Ravens, one with Detroit and one in Miami. Elliott is coming off a career-high 108 tackles (72 solo) with six passes defensed, an interception and three fumble recoveries in 2024.
Elliott said at the start of OTA's last month that he will do whatever the Steelers ask. He said it felt like family here and that he's loved in Pittsburgh. He said the Steelers coaches allow him to play free and that's the best version of himself.
"I'm a pissed off individual, definitely a new season," Elliott said. "We know what our goals are as a defense and as a team. We just try to take it one day at a time and accomplish those goals."
Steelers did not draft a safety this year, adding veteran Juan Thornhill in free agency.
