Steelers add 17 on Futures contracts

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers signed 17 to Reserve/Futures contracts on Tuesday, hours after Mike Tomlin’s final news conference of the season. A brief bio of all the players.

OL Dylan Cook

·      An injury ended his opportunity to be the swing tackle this year, he spent until late October on Injured Reserve and then signed to the practice squad. The converted quarterback is 6’6”, 305 pounds and the team is high on his potential.

RB Aaron Shampklin

·      The 25-year-old from Harvard played in three games for the Steelers with six carries for 17 yards. The 5’10”, 25-year-old bounced from the practice squad to the active roster.

WR Brandon Johnson

·      In his third year in the league, Johnson played in 3 games with the Steelers this year and had one catch for 9 yards. He previously played with Denver and the 6’2” receiver frequently acquitted himself well on the scout team.

WR Lance McCutcheon

·      Spent a month on the Steelers practice squad after time with the Jets this offseason. Another FCS player (Montana State), the 6’3”, 25-year-old played 10 games with the Rams in 2022, mainly on special teams

G Doug Nester

·      The 6’7”, 320-pound West Virginia alum spent the season on the Steelers practice squad

S Joshuah Bledsoe

·      Patriots sixth-round pick in 2021, played three games with the Pats in 2022 and one in 2023 before being released at the start of the 2024 regular season

DT Domenique Davis

·      At 6’2”, 326-pound, Davis is a small-college player who went between the Bengals and Steelers practice squads in 2024.

LB Devin Harper

·      The linebacker has played 12 games in two seasons between the Cowboys and Bengals with 10 combined tackles, most of the work on special teams. The 26-year-old was on the Steelers practice squad this year.

RB Evan Hull

·      Played one game with Indianapolis each of the last two seasons. He’s just 24-years-old and 5’10”, 209 pounds from Northwestern and the Colts fifth-round pick in 2023 spending most of this year on Indy’s practice squad.

DB D’Shawn Jamison

·      Just 5’9” out of Texas, he played in 15 games with the Panthers in 2023 starting one of the games with 10 combined tackles and a pass defended. He spent time on the Steelers practice squad in 2024.

G Steven Jones

·      6’5”, 342-pound guard out of Oregon signed as an undrafted free agent by Jacksonville and was on their practice squad

LB Eku Leota

·      He played for the Steelers in the Raiders game, making a tackle. Earlier in the season he played two games with the Panthers with four combined tackles and a sack. Was on the Steelers practice squad since October 14

DB Kyler McMichael

·      The 6’, 210-pound DB played at North Carolina and has been in camps and on practice squads with Tampa Bay, Buffalo, Arizona and the Steelers

LB Thomas Rush

·      The Ohio native (6’3”, 251 pounds) played for the Golden Gophers signing as an undrafted free agent with Tennessee in 2023 and has been on and off their roster

DT Jacob Slade

·      The Michigan State product has been on the Steelers practice squad all season after spending 2023 with the Arizona Cardinals

LB Julius Welschof

·      6’6”, 288 pounds out of Charlotte, he spent the season on the Steelers practice squad
