PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers added another veteran linebacker as Elandon Roberts is out Sunday at the Seahawks.

Jaylon Smith, who had three consecutive seasons of at least 121 tackles with Dallas, signed with the Steelers Tuesday night, per his agent. Over a three year stretch from 2018-2020, the former Dallas second-round pick had 417 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 18 passes defended, a pair of interceptions and four forced fumbles.

It tailed off for Smith over the last couple of seasons. In 2021 he played four games with Dallas, then two with Green Bay and four with the Giants. Last season, 13 games with the Giants with 88 tackles, three tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. The 28-year-old was on the Saints practice squad to begin the season, after his release in October signed with the Raiders November 2, played 25 snaps in one game with no tackles, and was released right before Thanksgiving.

Smith will be the third former Pro Bowl linebacker to sign on the Steelers practice squad this season, joining Myles Jack and Blake Martinez.
