
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers wanting to rebuild the defensive line after two consecutive seasons drafting first-round offensive lineman, the Steelers select Oregon’s Derrick Harmon with the 21st overall pick.
Harmon is graded as a plus-starter according to NFL.com. He was at Michigan State his first three seasons before transferring to the Ducks where he was a Second Team AP All-American even though he was Third Team All-Big 10. The 6’4”, 313-pound Harmon forced a pair of fumbles (one against Ohio State), 10.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and four pass breakups.
Harmon is a power inside presence who can play anywhere on the line according to NFL.com with a blend of size, length and strength. Needs to work on his consistency and is generally a first-round pick in most mock drafts.
