PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – If you woke up with your head sown to the carpet you might be less surprised than hearing about the Steelers trading center Kendrick Green to the Texans for a sixth-round pick in 2025.
After starting every game at center as a rookie, Green didn't dress for one game his second year. He had struggled his rookie season and again this preseason and there was the potential the Steelers 2021 fourth-round pick would have been released.
Reaction streamed into The PM Team on 93.7 The Fan minutes after the news was leaked, it was, well maybe what you would expect.
Here is what a few of the callers told Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller on 93.7 The Fan.
· "Makes me very happy to see him go. Almost as happy as seeing (Devin) Bush will probably get cut in Seattle. Good things come to those who deserve them. You guys got a civic duty, when you are going to make an announcement like that. We need to know because if we are operating heavy equipment, hauling steel like I am, it's hard to drive this load of steel around and dance in my drivers' seat with joy."
· "I don't care if you call him Genghis Kahn or 'Yes We Can, Yes We Kahn'. To trade a future Walmart employee for a sixth-round pick is straight up gangster.
He is the Kahn-father-he made this man an offer he could not refuse. This is amazing."
· "Kendrick Green couldn't play center for a juvenile basketball team. He sucks. People named Green were changing their names-Daryl Green, Draymond Green, Al Green, Tom Green, they were all down there changing their last name. He wasn't even allowed in Greensburg or Green Tree. I don't know what the Steelers problem was. My girl's last name is Green, let's make sure she's not related to him because if she is, I am leaving."
